1970-77 First lessons in playing the instruments violin and viola.
1978-83 First lessons in playing the drums.
1984/85 Student at the „Badische Konservatorium Karlsruhe“ in the subjects timpani and percussion.
1985-92 Studies in the subjects timpani/percussion at the „Robert-Schumann-Musikhochschule Düsseldorf“. Pass of the orchestra exam with distinction.
1986-88 Drummer and timpanist at the „Westdeutsche Kammeroper“ and at the „Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss“.
1987/88 Timpanist at the "Pasqua musicale Arcense" (Easter festivals) in Arco and Trient/Italy.
Seit 1988 Guest appearances, amongst others, at the radio orchestra of the „SWR“, „Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf“, „Stuttgarter Philharmoniker“, „Staatskapelle Karlsruhe“, „Theater Heidelberg“, „Theater Trier“, „Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen“, „Düsseldorfer Symphoniker“, „Baden-Badener Philharmonie“, „Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester“, „Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim“, „Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg“ and the „SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart“.
1989 Scholar of the „Richard Wagner Society“ at the festivals in Bayreuth.
1989/90

First work as a soloist with the „Concerto for Marimba, Vibraphone and Orchestra“ by Darius Milhaud in Düsseldorf, Pforzheim and Reutlingen together with the „Württembergischen Philharmonie“.

1990-93 Timpanist and drummer at the „Nationaltheater Mannheim“.
1990-94 Guest appearances at the musical „The Phantom of the Opera“ in Hamburg.
Seit 1993 Solo timpanist and drummer of the „Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim“.
1993 Foundation of the quartet „Roland Härdtner’s Swinging Mallets“ (mallets and jazz trio with the instrumentalists piano / contrabass / drums).
1994 CD "Swinging Mallets" with the quartet "Roland Härdtner’s Swinging Mallets".
1994/95 Studies of cultural management at the „Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Hamburg“.

2002-10 International concert tours for example to Italy, France, Venezuela and together with Placido Domingo to Dubai. Solo concerts in Germany together with, amongst others, the“Badischen Philharmonie“, the „Baden-Badener Philharmonie“, and the „Württembergischen Philharmonie Reutlingen“.
2003 Foundation of "Percussion Mallets" together with the "Maître de Tambour" Amadou Kienou from Burkina Faso.
2003/04 Own series of concerts „10 years of Roland Härdtner’s Mallets“ in the theatre Pforzheim.
Seit 2004 Workshops and master classes for mallet instruments both alone and together with Amadou Kienou / Goran Mann for djembe, orchestra percussion and drums.
2005 CD "Percussion Mallets" together with Amadou Kienou, "Rhythm Club Pforzheim", "Swinging Mallets Trio" and members of the "Städtisches Orchester Pforzheim".
